Privacy
This is my personal site. I run it from Toronto, Canada. It has no accounts and no forms. It does use analytics, and this page lists them. Last updated 2026-11-06.
What is collected
Google Analytics
Google Analytics 4 counts visitors and sessions. It records the pages you view, your approximate location, and your browser and device. It uses first-party cookies to tell visitors and sessions apart. I use these numbers to see which pages people read. Google explains what it does with this data in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in its Privacy Policy.
Microsoft Clarity
Microsoft Clarity records how you use a page: your clicks, scrolls and mouse movements, and what the page shows. I see this as session replays and heatmaps, and I use them to find what is hard to use on this site. Clarity gives you a unique ID and uses first-party and third-party cookies. It masks sensitive content by default. Microsoft says that Clarity sets no cookies for visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland without consent. This site does not ask for that consent.
What Microsoft does with Clarity data
Microsoft collects this data for itself too. It uses the data to provide Microsoft Advertising, and it can use the data to improve its products and to build user profiles for advertising. Read the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Vercel
Vercel hosts this site, so it gets each request from your browser, with your IP address. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views, and Speed Insights measures how fast pages load. Together they record the page, the referrer, your approximate location, your browser and device, and the speed of the page. I use them to see traffic and to keep the site fast. Vercel says that Web Analytics uses no third-party cookies, and that neither tool ties the data to a person or an IP address. Read Vercel's notes on Web Analytics and Speed Insights.
jsDelivr
Every page opens a connection to jsDelivr, and pages with math or code load style files from it. So jsDelivr can get your IP address. Read the jsDelivr privacy policy.
How to block it
To block Google Analytics, install Google's opt-out browser add-on.
To block Clarity, select Microsoft on the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. Clarity does not respond to Do Not Track signals.
To block cookies, change the settings of your browser. To stop these scripts, use a content blocker.
